This is one HOT Surround Sound Receiver. Just ask Arlen Schweiger, managing editor of Electronic House magazine. The January / February edition features a glowing review of the RSX-1560.

Rotel RSX-1560 $2,599 in Silver or Black.
A few quotes from the review;
“The RSX-1560 emphasizes clarity, transparency and depth. To my ears, two-channel listening felt just as immersive, if not more so, than the surround tracks.”
“Standard CDs like The Rite of Strings by Al DiMeola, Stanley Clarke and Jean-Luc Ponty felt like the jazz cats were performing in my room. My Classic Yes CD was revealed to have more hiss than I recalled; but the richly layered music also came forth in a more enveloping soundstage, with instruments pinpointed where they would be onstage anchored by the backdrop of Bill Bruford’s drums. And on the Allman Brothers’ Jessica, I caught background acoustic guitar details I wasn’t used to hearing despite listening to the tune hundreds of times.”
“Movie soundtracks were equally engaging. Dolby TrueHD lossless audio encoding came through in full force on 300, as did samples of DTS-HD Master Audio from its demo disc. Immersive action from Black Hawk Down felt properly reproduced through the speakers as gunfire, running and dialogue occurred on and off the screen. And demo’ing an Oscar-winning soundtrack just felt right on this audiophile-quality receiver.”

While the RCX-1500 Receiver/CD player is an all-in-one model, it has been engineered using components that you would find in more expensive separates.

Rotel RCX-1500 $1499.00
The DAC is the high-performance Wolfson with 24 bit / 192kHz decoding. The amplifier uses their innovative Class D design that is highly efficient, runs cooler than older A/B designs and provides plenty of voltage and current to easily drive lower impedance speakers down to 4 ohms. With 100 watts per channel available, feel free to hook up large floor-standing loudspeakers to the RCX-1500.
The receiver’s tuner section includes both terrestrial FM and Internet so your listening options are virtually limitless! There are presently over 15,000 Internet radio stations listed. And in order to help keep your favorite stations handy, the RCX-1500 includes 30 presets for instantaneous access to both FM and Internet broadcasts. A wireless Dongle (802.11) is provided for Ethernet connection or you may choose to use a wired connection.
The RCX-1500, like the RDG-1520, supports UPnP technology. UPnP devices are “plug-and-play” in that when connected to a network they automatically announce their network address and supported device and services types, enabling clients that recognize those types to immediately begin using the device. Supported codecs include RealAudio(R), WMA, MP3, AAC & AAC+ (non DRM), AU, WAV and AIFF.
As if all that isn’t enough, an RS-232 port provides system control and bi-directional feedback. In addition, the RCX-1500 is also a very high quality CD player, based onthe outstanding RCD-1520.
The RCX-1500 is without doubt, one of the most flexible, high performance, single chassis stereo components available today.
A tuner for the 21st Century. RDG stands for Rotel Digital Gateway.

Rotel RDG-1520 $999.00
The RDG-1520 certainly opens the gate wide for all that streaming media can offer, plus it
includes an FM radio and offers a USB input for direct digital connection of an iPod or other USB class 2 devices, bypassing the inexpensive analog output stage in favor of our Wolfson DAC and high-end analog stage.
The tuner includes terrestrial FM and Internet radio, so your listening options are virtually limitless!
There are presently over 15,000 Internet radio stations listed.
You can connect a lap top directly to the RDG-1520 if this is your preference. Or you can stream from
your PC using Windows Media Player 11 over a wireless or wired Ethernet connection. A USB to WiFi Ethernet dongle is included.
Supported codecs include RealAudio(R), WMA, MP3, AAC & AAC+ (non DRM), AU, WAV and AIFF.
The RDG-1520 can be controlled via bi-directional RS-232, as well as discrete IR. Custom integrators will appreciate that the chassis is a standard 2U size and it works with Rotel’s RFK rack kits for an easy, clean installation.
You might think the RDG-1520 would be a multi-thousand dollar component, given all that it does and the high-performance design.
The few similar units on the market are indeed very expensive. But the RDG-1520 offers the value proposition the Rotel is known for around the globe.

This past weekend had our team out in the East Bay, Piedmont to be exact. We installed a sweet little birthday surprise for the lucky dad in this family!
We began by updating the receiver and adding a Rotel 6 channel distribution amp to power 3 zones. We also added a Marantz 5 disc CD changer, the new CC-4003 and a Marantz IPod Docking Station to the electronics closet.
Then we finished by installing two pairs of B&W loudspeakers. One pair of CCM-80 in-ceiling speakers and 1 pair of WM-6 weatherproof outdoor speakers tucked up under the eves.
It all sounded great, was easy for the entire family to use and came in under budget! A good day for us all!
Rotel showed some new product this week at CEDIA Expo.
Two audio components that network with home PCs and stream Internet radio. Both also control media on a connected iPod or other USB device.
The RDG-1520 digital Internet tuner, features FM tuner, streaming of 15,000 Internet radio stations without a networked PC, and streaming of music stored on a networked PC equipped with UPnP and Windows Media Player 11. This product is slated to sell for $999.00
The digital Internet tuner, includes a USB input for direct digital connection of an iPod , bypassing the iPod’s analog-output stage to shift digital-to-analog conversion over to the tuner’s high-end Wolfson DAC and analog stage.
Secondly, a streaming product, called the RCX-1500. It is a streaming media/CD/FM stereo receiver, In addition to being a fine stereo receiver with built-in CD player, it features the ability to stream Internet radio and music stored on a networked PC. It’s due in November at a suggested retail of $1,500.
The device’s CD section uses 24 bit/192kHz DACs, and a very capable 2×100-watt amp section ready for the demands of a 4 ohm load.
Both products’ supported RealAudio, WMA, MP3, unprotected AAC & AAC+, AU, WAV and AIFF.
In other introductions, the company showed its 12×100-watt (into 8 ohms) Class D multi-room-audio amplifier, the $2,799-suggested retail. This amp should be a great addition to the line and further enhance the sound quality of many a multi-room system.
